Grown in the Thracian Valley in Southern Bulgaria, on sandy limestone and pummus soils that were once part of an old growth forest. Mavrud is a thick skinned, late ripening red variety, still with enough acid to remain light and fresh on the palate. The wine is aged in neutral vessel, and on its lees for 8 months.
