Intrepid catches fire after being struck by two Japanese suicide planes within five minutes off the coast of Luzon, the Philippines, on November 25, 1944. The kamikazes crashes killed six officers and five sailors on the carrier. Despite the attacks, the Intrepid never lost propulsion and in less than two hours, extinguished the last blaze.
